2016; a retrospective look

I think we can all agree that 2016 was the epitome of a figurative roller coaster ride, except without many ups. Everyone had a general dislike for this year, quite fairly I would say. It's like no one has escaped 2016 unscathed. As we reach the end of the year, we tend to reflect. We celebrate our victories and mourn our losses. Before I start trying to organise my mess of a life, I want to reflect on my year. So, here is a retrospective look at my 2016.

Doin' it just because you want to

Have you ever felt an urge to do something, but suppressed it because you believed you couldn't? For years, I've wanted to cut my hair short, but I've never had the guts. I thought more carefully about what others might think before I considered how it would make me feel. Then with an air of spontaneity, I decided; why wait. Shia LeBeouf once said; " just do it ". Although simple, these three words are quite profound. If you want to do something, just do it. Don't wait, because the only person it will be detrimental to is yourself. I kept making excuses as to why I couldn't. "I'll wait until I'm better," I whispered to myself. I believed that just because I'm in a wheelchair, I couldn't. I'd look even more different than I already do and I didn't want to attract unwanted attention to myself. But then I thought, what good will it do for me to wait any longer? Why should I wait until I'm able and well again? I...

Working with Letters to Corey

I've officially reached a blogging milestone. I have written a piece for another blog. It's been a little while since I discovered the incredible platform that is Letters to Corey, so when I received an email from them you can guess my reaction. I was beaming and got my fingers typing immediately. It was pretty special.

The Truth // CRPS

I have been keeping something from you, something important to me, that's been happening for awhile now. It's changed my life and has affected my upload schedule among other things. So... Last year in October I suffered a fall off a skateboard. Scans and assessments proved inconclusive. 6 weeks later, mid-November, I was diagnosed with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome. This condition isn't common and it was a lonely feeling that no one understood.
